One task at a time.

One Task is a light-up wristband for kids. While your child brushes their teeth, gets dressed or reads, the dots of light in the band go out one by one, all the way around the wrist. That way, they can see how much time is left. Every task they finish earns points in the app.

AI-generated concept image: Looking over a child’s shoulder at their wrist by the bathroom sink. A tooth glows on the dark blue knitted band, next to turquoise dots of light.

How a task works

One symbol, one band of light, one short buzz at the end. That’s all the band shows.

AI-generated concept image: The same wrist three times while brushing teeth: at first all the dots of light are lit, at halfway only half of them, and just before the end only a few.
Task started, halfway, almost done: the light runs once around the wrist.

Pick a task. The light runs once around the band, sped up.
  1. Start a task

From the app, or at a set time as part of your routine. The matching symbol lights up on top of the band, for example a tooth for brushing teeth.

  2. The light counts down

The whole band stands for the full time. As each dot of light goes out, you can see the time passing. So even children who can’t tell the time yet can see how long is left.

  3. Done

The band gives a short buzz and shows a thumbs-up. Your child earns points for it in the app.

AI-generated concept image: Dark blue knitted band standing upright as a loop. A row of turquoise dots of light runs all the way round, and a tooth symbol glows on top.

The light is woven into the band

No casing, no watch, no screen. The dots of light sit right inside the soft knitted band and run all the way around the wrist.

  • The symbol faces your child

Whether it’s worn on the left or the right wrist, the symbol on top of the band always faces the right way for your child to read it.

  • One full circle is the full time

Two minutes of brushing teeth or fifteen minutes of reading: when the last dot goes out, time’s up.

  • A short buzz at the end

Your child can feel when the task is done, even if they’re not looking at the band.

AI-generated concept image: Close-up of the knitted band: a white tooth and a row of turquoise dots of light glow through the fabric.
Fine knit: the symbol and the dots of light shine through the fabric.
AI-generated concept image: Four light-up bands side by side in navy, coral, teal and lime, each glowing with colourful fireworks.
Colour concepts: navy, coral, teal and lime.

All images show design concepts. The finished band may look different.

The app turns it into a game

The band stays simple. Points, streaks and rewards live in the app, which children and parents use together.

AI-generated concept image: A child brushing their teeth, with the band and its tooth symbol glowing on their wrist and a phone showing the task in the app in their other hand.
AI-generated illustration: The knitted One Task owl. Around its neck it wears a light-up band as a scarf, with a glowing pencil on it.

The owl is always there

In the app, the owl shows your child what’s next, cheers them on and celebrates every success with them. And of course, its scarf is a light-up band.

For your child

  • Points for every task

Every finished task earns points, and your child can watch their score grow.

  • Streaks that motivate

Keeping it up three days in a row earns the rocket. Completing a whole routine or reaching the weekly goal earns fireworks.

For you as parents

  • Set up together

You set the routines and times. Your child can also add tasks of their own, such as learning vocabulary.

  • Real rewards, if you like

Whether points turn into something real, like a movie night, is up to you as parents.

  • Left or right

In the app, you set which wrist the band is worn on. The symbol then always faces your child the right way up.

App design draft. The finished app may look different. Names, points and rewards are examples.

Routines your child can manage on their own

In the app, you decide together what belongs in the morning, after school and in the evening. At the right time, the band reminds your child of the next task.

  • AI-generated concept image: A child putting on socks, with a T-shirt symbol and pink dots of light glowing on the band.

    In the morning

Getting dressed, brushing teeth, packing the school bag. The band only ever shows the task that’s due right now.

  • AI-generated concept image: A child writing their homework in an exercise book, with a pencil symbol and blue dots of light glowing on the band.

    After school

Homework in focus blocks: 15 minutes of concentrated work, then a 5-minute break.

  • AI-generated concept image: A child reading in bed in the evening, with a book symbol and amber dots of light glowing on the band.

    In the evening

Getting ready for bed, brushing teeth, a quarter of an hour of reading. And that’s the day done.

Ten symbols to start with

More tasks, such as showering, laying the table or looking after a pet, can be added in the app.

  • Brushing teeth
  • Getting dressed
  • Getting ready for bed
  • Homework
  • Reading
  • Tidying the room
  • Exercise
  • Almost time
  • Screen time
  • Custom task

AI-generated concept image: A child raising their arm, with colourful fireworks glowing on the band.

Done! The band celebrates too

Every finished task gets a light signal and a short buzz. The more your child gets done, the bigger the celebration.

  • Thumbs up

For every task completed. One short buzz.

  • Rocket

Faster than planned, or three days in a row. Two short buzzes.

  • Fireworks

For a whole routine or the weekly goal. Long, short, short.

AI-generated concept image: Looking over the shoulder of a child packing their school bag on their own. A school bag symbol glows on the band, and their mother stands relaxed in the doorway, holding a mug.

Fewer reminders, calmer mornings

No more asking for the fifth time whether teeth have been brushed: your child simply looks at the band. You set up the routines once, and from then on the band does the reminding.

In the app, you can see what’s been done and decide whether points turn into real rewards.

Why I’m building One Task

I’m Mirco, 45, and I live with my wife Anne and our two sons in Siek, just north of Hamburg. Our younger son is an absolute treasure: loving and incredibly kind-hearted. But he finds it hard to keep track of everyday routines. We’ve spent a lot of time reminding him, again and again, of the task at hand.

What helps him is clear structure. So I followed him around with sand timers until I thought: surely there’s a smarter way to do this these days. All the constant reminding and putting things off doesn’t just cost time. It also weighs on the mood of the whole family.

One Task is my answer: one light-up band, one task, one clear focus. No screen and no features to distract. I’m building it for our son and for every family in the same situation.

Frequently asked questions

When can I buy One Task?

We’re developing the band right now. We’ll only announce a date once we’re sure we can keep it. If you’re on the waitlist, you’ll hear it first.

What age is One Task for?

Mainly for younger children. We’re still finding out exactly where the age limit lies, which is why we ask about age when you sign up.

Do I need a smartphone for it?

For the app, yes: you set up routines, check points and choose rewards on a phone or tablet. On your child’s wrist, however, there’s no screen – just light and a short buzz.

Can the band get wet?

Splashes while brushing teeth or washing hands shouldn’t be a problem. We’re currently testing whether it can also stay on in the shower or bath.

Are the photos on this page real?

No. The pictures of children with the band are AI-generated concept images, because the band doesn’t exist as a finished product yet. The picture of the founder was also created with AI. All of these images carry a label saying so. Our owl is an AI-created illustration, too.

What happens to my email address?

We only use it to keep you updated about One Task. It’s stored by our newsletter service, Brevo, on servers in the EU. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click in any of our emails.
